While the Defense Department supports the overall aim of de-escalating tensions and restoring stability in the Red Sea, it will not hesitate to defend civilians and protect the free flow of commerce in one of the world’s most critical waterways, a defense official said.
Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder stressed the importance of having on-time, full-year appropriations and the damage a continuing resolution does to the department’s ability to plan and modernize the force.
