The U.S. announced it will send an additional security assistance package for Ukraine as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded his second visit to Washington since Russia launched its unprovoked invasion.
The Senate voted to confirm Air Force Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. to be chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Randy A. George as Army chief of staff and Gen. Eric M. Smith as Marine Corps commandant.
During a meeting at the Pentagon, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III updated Ukraine’s president and highlighted his personal commitment and involvement and work with international leaders on providing security assistance.
The Defense Department remains committed to strengthening its technical advantage in a strategic environment that is increasingly being shaped by high-tech competition, a senior Pentagon policy official said.
